Murray gets in gear for charity challenge

Scott Dawson’s managing director Murray has completed a gruelling charity cycling challenge to raise money for North West Blood Bikes.

Murray joined nine friends and fellow cycling enthusiasts to pedal their way from Liverpool to Leeds along the canal on a sunny Saturday and Sunday.

The team included Paul Dwyer along with his son Danny Dwyer, Allan Nutter, Nick Garratt, Alex Roberts, Stephen Greenhalgh and John Slater, while Sean Keenan and Sean Dwyer ran the support vehicle.

North West Blood Bikes (Lancs and Lakes) provides a vital out-of-hours services to the NHS delivering life-saving medical supplies to hospitals in the area. Their volunteers travel by motorcycle to transport blood, samples, donor breast milk for premature babies, doctors’ notes and urgently required theatre equipment between hospitals.

They run this service during the night, at weekends and Bank Holidays and it’s funded through donations so hospital funding can be concentrated on patient care.

Murray and the team have managed to raise £1585 for the charity so far, as well as £717 for Prostate Cancer UK.

There’s still time to sponsor the team – visit their fundraising page here:

Bumble meets SDA

This week SDA met a local hero as part of our Accrington Stanley marketing campaign.

David “Bumble” Lloyd, Accrington-born ex-cricketer and Sky Sports pundit, is on the board at Accrington Stanley and met up with SDA’s Murray and Alison this week to discuss how he could lend his star power to our community campaign to encourage Accrington to get behind Stanley.

He said: “It’s dead easy to follow Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal or whoever but this is our town, this is our club and we need our community, our schools, our youngsters to come along and watch us play.

“We’ve lost the last few games and that’s what happens sometimes in sport – sometimes you lose. But we need that support to keep us going.”

Bumble, who was in Accy to watch his team’s clash against York City – his wife’s favourite club – was a great sport and let us take a few snaps of him to give this week’s Stanley promo efforts an extra push.

The pie’s the limit

It’s pies all round at SDA this week after we pipped thousands of football fans to the post to win a box of free pies at Accrington Stanley Football Club.

Clayton Park Bakery, based in Clayton-le-Moors, Accrington, appealed to crowds to tweet a picture of themselves enjoying one of the company’s pies at Accrington Stanley home clash against former manager John Coleman’s Rochdale side.

As the official supplier to the football club, the bakery sells hundreds of pies at every home match.

Murray Dawson, managing director of SDA, tweeted what was later chosen as the winning picture – of a friend’s son tucking into a Clayton Park steak and kidney pie – from our company Twitter account @ScottDawsonAd.

Murray said: “As a marketing agency we’re well aware of the benefits of social networking to boost your profile so this is a fantastic way for Clayton Park Bakery to get their name out there and interact with customers. We’re delighted to be chosen and look forward to getting stuck in to our free pies!”

Steff Sulinski from Scott Dawson went to collect the pies from the bakery this week.

Brian Ashworth from Clayton Park Bakery said: “We supply pies to a range of different clubs across all division, including those in the Premiership, but we feel it’s especially important to support Accrington Stanley as they’re a local club and the partnership helps us to put something back into the community of Accrington.”
